Post-Production Update

Today I met with one of the people that is going to be composing music for the film. We spent part of the afternoon watching the film and then discussing what I was looking for in the music. Early in 2014 you will get to hear a taste of what she can do. I also have a meeting with another one of the composers this Wednesday to go over what she will be composing. My sister has also been doing some fantastic work creating the themes for several of the major characters in the film.

Filming Excursion

Just got back last night from another one day short film shoot up in Rochester, MN where I was the DP(Director of Photography). This film is being produced by my same friends that I helped make "Letters and a Rose." The trip was quite fun and I learned a lot. Once again it was another period film. This was the first time I had ever done a film during this time of the winter that involved more outdoors type shooting. It was also interesting as this was the first time I had been on a movie set where we were using a boom mic. Other than that there were other areas that I got more experience in such as multi-camera shooting and lightning. Below are a few group pictures from it. The film itself won't be done until early spring but I can't wait for you all to see it. It is called "Frontier Christmas".

Trailer

We are happy to announce that we have begun work on editing together the first trailer for the film. Look for it in early 2014.

Post-Production Update

Brothers in Christ Productions is pleased to announce that Matthew Evans from Los Metates Studios is going to be helping out with some of the visual effects for "The Faith Line." Early next year you will get to see what he is working on for ... us right now. While you wait check out this trailer from his most recent production that shows off some of the visual effect work he has done.   Action Scene 3 Trailer

Prayer Request

Dear everyone even though many of the hard parts of filming are done and we are no longer praying for good weather, safety, actors etc. There are still many prayer requests for post-production. The biggest one is to please pray that the Lord continues to provide the funds necessary for promotion and to pay off what we owe from the production and post-production stages.

Chariots of Fire

For those of you who have seen the movie "Chariots of Fire", I've spent the last two weeks watching it for the first time as part of a school course. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing it. Getting to see how another film handled track races was neat and gave me some ideas for the editing of mine. It was also interesting to see some of the similarities in the story and where "The Faith Line" differed from it.

Post-Production Update

Brothers in Christ Productions is pleased to announce that it has finished the first part of post-production. We now feel that we have the final cut of scenes that will make up the film. We are now moving on to getting work on the music underway. Also at the end of the month I will be traveling back up to Minnesota to work on another short film by the people who did the short film "Letters and a Rose." Lots more happening with many surprises coming soon.

Post-Production Update

It has been a while since I updated the blog so I thought I would get something up. Primary editing on the film continues to go very well. We plan to start working on the music closer to the end of the year along with visual effects. Make sure you are following our facebook page as we have been releasing some bloopers from the film every-so-often on there along with other updates. Check back at the end of November when we will hopefully have several more big updates coming your way about "The Faith Line" and the company itself.

Post-Production Update

Just here to give you another short post-production update. I have watched through the whole film and am now going back and correcting mistakes where I forgot to take the beginning of a scene out or something didn't get cut far enough. We are hoping to have the final cut of footage done sometime before Christmas. We are also starting to think ahead about the visual effect work and sound work that will need to be done for the film.

Post-Production Update

Post-production has finally reached the next stage. I have finally finished putting every shot into the computer except for a few pickup shots I still have to film. Next comes the long process of deciding what stays and what won't make the final cut of the film.

Short Film

For those of you who remember, I helped some friends from MN, out this summer on a short film project. The project has now been completed and they have posted the film, "Letters and a Rose" on youtube. Below is a link to the film for you to check out. Letters and a Rose

A New Direction for Brothers in Christ Productions

As we continue on working to finish production of our recent feature film project “The Faith Line.” Brothers in Christ Productions is also going to start a new part of the company. We are in the process of starting a part of the company that will be a freelance video production business. Don’t worry, this will not hinder us from making feature films, shorts or other projects of our own for God’s glory or helping other filmmakers out on there projects. We fully intend and are committed to making more as the Lord calls us too. We do see this as an opportunity to continue to serve God and spread his word to people. However; even though we are going into the freelance business we still have a standard that we will uphold for the projects we work on. Below is what I am calling our company’s covenant. This tells what we believe in so that you know what to expect when you watch any project done by our company. It is also a way that will help us decide which freelance projects are okay to

Post-Production Update

Post-production is beginning to start back up. I starting editing the film again last night and then last night and today did a few pick-up shots for the beginning of the film. Planning to have the first edit of the film done no later than Christmas. Also working on a demo reel for the company. Just waiting on the music to get finished.

Sizzle Reel

For those of you who have not visited the Facebook page to see the sizzle reel. Here it is. Enjoy.

Sizzle Reel

For those of you who don't know what I mean when I say sizzle reel here is what it is. A sizzle reel is a trailer like video used to show investors in a film the progress made on it. It can be done at various times throughout the production. Visit our facebook page to view the sizzle reel for The Faith Line. I hope to get it on the blog soon.

Wrap Party

Image
Yesterday night we held a wrap party for the actors and crew members of The Faith Line. The party itself was mainly a time for the cast and crew to all get back together and just hangout and play games with each. Also at the cast party we watched some of the bloopers, along with a picture slideshow of the production and they got a special glimpse of the movie ahead of everyone else. Below are a few pictures from the party.

Post-Production Update

Not much has been done lately due to my busy schedule. We have the cast and crew wrap party coming up next week and I'm working on a couple of special things for that. Hoping to get back to starting to edit the film after that. Be sure to come back next week for pictures from the cast party along with a special surprise.

Filming Recap

Image
I made it safely there and back from helping on a short film project up in Rochester, MN. Even though it was very hot with high humidity it was still a blast getting to be working on a film set again. Two best part of the trip was, 1: This was a period piece, which is something I have yet to do. It was neat seeing how they had to act and the costumes they wore. 2: The film was shot with three cameras. I was originally hoping to film "The Faith Line" with two but it didn't work out. It was great seeing how everything had to go with multiple cameras on set and getting experience shooting like that before doing it in a project of my own. Keep checking back for more updates. Below are a few pictures from the filming.

Update

Haven't started the actual editing yet but I have been working on a special something that I will be posting this August for everyone. Tomorrow I load up my gear and head up to Rochester MN to be the DP(Director of Photography) on a short film being made by some friends I met at the SAICFF this February.

Video Project

Below is a link to a short 90 second video I helped my swim coach make for her church in my free time this June. Lots more exciting news will becoming so remember to keep checking back. Also if you have gone to our facebook page recently and checked out the video posted on there last week make sure you do. Video Link

A Filmmaking Funny

A few days ago a friend of mine sent me this. I thought I would share it. Unlike the director in this story we turned to God and let him deal with the weather. A film crew was on location deep in the desert. One day an old Indian went up to the director and said, “Tomorrow rain.” The next day it rained. A week later, the Indian went up to the director and said, “Tomorrow storm.” The next day there was a hailstorm. “This Indian is incredible,” said the director and he hired the Indian to predict the weather. However, after several successful predictions the old Indian didn’t show up for two weeks. Finally the director sent for him. “I have to shoot a big scene tomorrow,” said the director, “and I’m depending on you. What will the weather be like?” The Indian shrugged his shoulders. “Don’t know,” he said. “Radio broken .”

Editing Update

The last two days we have been moving closer to being able to edit the film. Yesterday we went and purchased the iMac that we will be editing on and today I got it set up. Now I wait for the editing program to get here sometime this week so that I can get that installed.

Editing Update

Today we ordered the editing suite that we will be using for this film project. Now we just have to wait for it to come and get the computer that we are going to use for editing before we can start.

Secondary Photography Begins

Today, we began our short secondary photography filming session. Basically this is establishing shots and other minor shots that didn't get filmed during principle photography. Today we brought Matt Ray, who plays one of the announcers, back in to re-record a couple of lines that changed since we recorded the original lines back in April.

Editing

For those of you interested, once we begin editing towards the end of summer we plan to use the Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium which is a top of the line editing suite.

What We Are Up To

With principle photography wrapping up yesterday you might be wondering what we were up to today. Today was spent resting along with organizing and beginning to put away props and equipment from filming. I also did some prep work for some secondary filming we have coming up this Friday. Be sure to continue to check back for more updates.

Principle Photography - Day 19

Image
Principle Photography continued and concluded today at the Nashua track. We welcomed back many of the cast track runners and several other actors for at least part of the day. The Lord gifted us with beautiful weather but on the downside it was very hot and we needed to take lots of breaks to keep the actors cool. Due to stuff beyond our control I got to step in front of the camera one more time for the final two scenes of principle photography in the movie. While everyone is happy the project is done they all agree that they are going to miss each other as they all grew very close. Especially the track runners that spent the last week and a half together. One final prayer request I do have is for safe travel for our one actor that heads back up to Minnesota tomorrow. Continue to check back on the blog for new updates, even though they won't be coming a frequent now that principle photography is over.

Principle Photography - Day 18

Image
Filming once again continued today as we wrapped up filming at the Waverly High School Track. The morning started off cool and cloudy but by the afternoon had turned to lovely sunshine and hot weather. Today's filming did see several track runners, including myself, along with a couple crew members wrapping their time on set as we prepare to finish off principle photography. However; We still managed to get the best blooper of the entire day at the shoot today. We can't wait for you to see it. Remember to check back tomorrow for another update about filming.

Principle Photography - Day 17

Image
Filming continued today as we returned to the Waverly track for a fourth day. This day featured the final day of crowd shot shooting for the film along with filming the last races that will be at the Waverly track. The rain once again held off except for a little shower at the beginning of the filming day but that cleared off pretty quickly. God has continued to provide all the extras that we have needed. Please continue to pray that God would help send us the rest of the extras that we need. Filming will continue tomorrow with the final day at the Waverly track. Check back soon for more updates.

Devotions

For anybody that has ever listened to Stephen Kendrick talk, one of the big things he talks about for any Christian movie is that they need to be in the word of God each day. On the set of "The Faith Line" we are doing this with a daily devotion and prayer. Below is a devotion and prayer from a few days ago. All the devotions were written by my grandpa. Are You Without Sin? "And such were some of you: but you are washed, you are sanctified, you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." 1st Corinthians 6:11   In reading the video script,   I noted how many times certain characters were tempted to skip church and attend "special practice" for the track team. There were others who refused to do that. When this happens, there are times when, those, who don't skip church, develop an attitude of being better than the others. The Apostle Paul, in the above verse, reminds us that we all are sinners, so we had best be

Principle Photography - Day 16

Image
Today we returned to the UNI track for our second and final day there filming the state track meet. We were once again blessed with a day of no rain and God sent the extras we needed for the crowd shots in the stands. This day was a lot shorter and easier than yesterday but still got those there as track runners doing a lot of running. Tomorrow we return to the Waverly track for another day of filming. However; the weather doesn't sound that promising so please pray that God would hold off the rain so that we can film everything we need including more crowd shots.
