2016 Recap

2016 is wrapping up quickly and so it is time to look back on all that has happened over the past year and towards the many exciting projects that 2017 will bring.

2016 started out with a bang as we joined the crew of Solid Ground Studios latest production A Heart Under Shadow to serve as the Gaffer. This was the fourth Solid Ground film we have worked on as well as my third film as Gaffer. Throughout the production we did everything from survive the Minnesota cold, to lighting nightmare scenes and a wedding.

Our next big adventure of 2016 took us down to the 2016 Christian Worldview Film Festival where we spent a week learning more about the art of film making while catching up with many old friends and meeting lots of new people that we hope to work with in the future. We were also part of the crew for the 2015 MWCFA project that was a official selection at the festival.

In May and June we spent a week up in Detroit Lakes, MN attending the Midwest Christian Filmmakers Academy for a second year. The week featured an amazing time of catching up with fellow filmmakers, learning new information, tips and tricks and serving as crew for both a student film and an official production. For the student film I was the art director while on the official production I was part of the AD/BTS team.

We rounded up the summer with the premiere of Solid Ground Studios' A Heart Under Shadow at the end of June, once again getting to catch up with old friends while seeing and hearing about the impact the film was making.

Our last big adventure of 2016 was being part of the Motion University Beta course throughout the fall. During the course we got to make a promotional film for a local client while getting feedback from others on our projects and learning the entire production process more in-depth from a free-lance point of view.

Besides these bigger events, we also worked on over a dozen free-lance projects in the local area throughout the year. This has helped us gain a larger portfolio, make more connections and has helped us grow our business. Our previous short films Thank You and Agape also showed in several film festivals and took home multiple awards themselves. Throughout the year we also released new Director's Cuts of our original short film Trilogy that was created between 2009 and 2011. And in November we held our second Brothers in Christ Film Showcase featuring four faith-based short films.

As 2017 looms ahead, exciting things are in the works. We have several free-lance projects either lined up or in the process of getting set in stone with more to come. I will also be serving as a grip on the feature film Relghim in the upcoming future. This project looks to have great potential and I can't wait to meet and work with many new faces and some familiar ones on the project. We also have a potential film project of our own that we hope to share more about soon so make sure to check back often for more information on that.

Until then, we pray that your 2016 has been just as exciting and that God will continue to bless you in the new year.
