Post-Production Interview: Music

Below, enjoy this brief interview with Sara Roth. Sara is one of the main people composing original music for the film.

How did you first become involved with the project?
I received an email from the theatre department at the University of Northern Iowa that there was a need for extras in a off campus student film. I then contacted Micah and also informed him that I was studying music composition at the University.

What was your reaction to seeing the rough cut of the film and the scenes that you would be composing music for?
I was very excited to see the film and thought it was very well put together and a very good length. There were many parts that I imagined would work well with music

What has been the process that you have gone through in writing each scene?
After viewing each scene I evaluated the emotion and action that was being conveyed and tried to communicate that with the chord structures and melodies of Anna Versemann's two musical themes that she wrote.

What has been the most challenging aspect of the project for you?
I have been struggling with my computer functioning correctly and also finding time in the midst of school projects to work on outside activities.

What are you looking forward to seeing the most?
I am looking forward to the scene when Jason and his father have an argument. I think it is a very powerful scene and I thought it was written very well.

Any final words that you would like to say?
I have really enjoyed working on this project and am very glad that I got to be a part of it!
